AI products

Removing AI can make the product more ambitious.

Constraining autonomy and replacing generation with evidence-backed options can create a product capable of responsible production use.

The most ambitious AI product may be the one disciplined enough to become dependable.

01

Breadth impresses the room

AI concepts expand quickly: answer questions, summarize records, recommend actions, draft communications, and eventually execute tasks. Each capability makes the vision more compelling.

The combined evaluation surface becomes enormous. Trust, data, policy, and recovery requirements multiply faster than the team's ability to govern them.

02

Remove what cannot be justified

Defer autonomous actions. Replace suggested decisions with evidence-backed options. Constrain drafting through approved patterns. Remove personalization when the data cannot support it.

Subtraction allows the team to make the remaining behavior observable and responsible. It also clarifies the business outcome the product truly owns.

Scope is not ambition. A smaller product that changes real work is more ambitious than a broad demo that cannot be trusted.
03

Create room for production

Narrow scope improves evaluation coverage, source quality, user understanding, incident response, and the speed with which failures can be corrected.

The product becomes less magical and more capable of entering real work. Adoption follows usefulness rather than executive demand.

04

Measure ambition by consequence

An ambitious product changes an important constraint without transferring unacceptable uncertainty to users. That may require fewer visible AI features.

Removing AI can make the product more ambitious because discipline is what turns possibility into durable capability.
